Diversity and authenticity of Vesuvian grape varieties

The Cru’ Prodivi Line is a tangible testament to our company philosophy taken to the extreme, a manifestation of the dedication and specialization we've achieved in viticulture. This line of wines is the result of an ambitious project focusing deeply on specific grape varieties, allowing us to maximize the viticultural and oenological potential of Vesuvian varieties.

The word 'Crù' is emblematic in this context, denoting the extreme attention given to each vineyard selected for this line. Every vineyard is regarded as a precious and unique resource, with distinct characteristics contributing to the production of extraordinary wines. The selection of grape varieties and the choice of timing and cultivation techniques are meticulous and aimed at optimizing the potential of each vineyard.

The result of this commitment is the creation of wines that express clearly and distinctly the character of the Vesuvian terroir. Each bottle in the Cru’ Prodivi line tells a unique story, capturing the essence of grapes grown in specific vineyards and the craftsmanship applied in their vinification. These wines offer a true sensory experience, transmitting the terroir, tradition, and artistry of local winemaking.

AGLIANICO POMPEIANO IGT

"Don Paolo”

Variety: Aglianico 100%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Guyot and spurred cordon, located at approximately 500 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 6000 kg

Harvest: Manual, mid-October

Vinification: Steel, refinement in tonneaux and vats

Alcohol Content: 14%

Paolo Sorrentino, the second generation since 1988, began vinifying Vesuvius Aglianico in wood in the 2000s. This wine is dedicated to him, who strongly advocated for specialized ampelography expansion on Vesuvius.

VESUVIO LACRYMA CHRISTI BIANCO

DOC SUPERIORE

“Vigna Lapillo”

Grape Varieties: Caprettone 80%, Greco 10%, Falanghina 10%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Double Guyot, located at approximately 500 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 6000 kg

Harvest: Manual, at the end of September

Vinification: Steel, aging on lees for 8 months

Alcohol Content: 13%

Vigna Lapillo, situated at 500 meters, where there's a high presence of lapilli, volcanic debris that enhances mineral content. Established in 2000 to introduce more suitable cultivation techniques for native vines and achieve excellent grape and wine performance over time.

VESUVIO LACRYMA CHRISTI ROSSO

"Vigna Lapillo"

Variety: Piedirosso 80%, Aglianico 20%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Double Guyot, located at approximately 500 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 6000 kg

Harvest: Manual at the beginning of October

Vinification: Steel then refinement in tonneaux

Alcohol Content: 13%

Vigna Lapillo at 500 meters where there's a high presence of lapilli, volcanic debris that enhances mineral content. Established in 2000 to introduce cultivation techniques better suited for native vines and achieve excellent grape and wine performance over time.

CATALÒ

“Catalò”

Variety: Catalanesca 100%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Double Guyot, located at approximately 400 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 6000 kg

Harvest: Manual at the end of September

Vinification: Steel

Alcohol Content: 13%

Catalanesca was initially used as a table grape, but since 2006 it's been used for winemaking. It comes from Catalonia in the 15th century with Alfonso I of Aragon. Initially, it wasn't possible to write the name of the grape variety on the label, which is why 'Catalò' emerged to introduce it to consumers.

FALANGHINA POMPEIANO IGT

"Latikadea"

Variety: Falanghina 100%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Double Guyot, located at approximately 400 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 6000 kg

Harvest: Manual at the end of September

Vinification: Steel

Alcohol Content: 13%

Paolo Sorrentino began vinifying the Vesuvian Falanghina in purity, spreading the grape variety in specialized areas with higher altitudes. This gave birth to Latikadea, which means tasting a wine without thinking about the toils and troubles to obtain it.

PIEDIROSSO POMPEIANO IGT

“Frupa”

Variety: Piedirosso 100%

Soil: Volcanic – sandy

Training System: Double Guyot, located at approximately 600 meters above sea level

Yield per hectare: 4500 kg

Harvest: Manual, mid-October

Vinification: Steel. Aging in vats

Alcohol Content: 13.5%

Piedirosso is both "Cross and Delight" because it faces productivity challenges until refinement. "Frupa" comes from Latin "fructus papilionis," meaning the fruits of the butterfly depicted on the label. Symbolizing the love and passion that drove the creation of this wine, it's an emblem of the company.
